In this paper we propose a new design methodology for free/subsidized drug distribution system to the government hospitals. The existing traditional book records system is ineffective and vulnerable to be exploited by the drug dealers. So the novelty of our proposed approach is that we maintain a database of all the drugs at each distribution center and update the database each and every time the drugs are allotted to a patient so that we get a summary of all the present, allotted and sold out drugs at all levels in the system. This proposal exploits the Internet of Things and a Raspberry Pi module interfaced with a keyboard and LCD display to form an interconnected network among all the drug distribution dealers thereby making the system more transparent from misuse of the drugs. The proposed system is efficient, cost- effective, easy to deploy and use and makes the total drug distribution system in the country infallible.

Conclusion

In this paper, we have developed a Drug Management System using a Raspberry Pi system interfaced with LCD, keyboard and printer. Our system provides transparency in the Drug Management system by keeping track of all the sales through updating each and every purchase in the database. It’s also very cost efficient, consume less power and space compared to traditional computer. Moreover, it also maintains the stock of all available drugs and warns the dealer of possible low stock, so that he can get the drugs in prior. Finally the proposed system is easy, cost efficient, consumes less power, less space and improves transparency in the existing Drug Management system.
